Who says you can’t have fun at home this summer? We certainly think you can. With these suggestions, you won’t be sat there whining “Oh, there’s nothing to do today” instead with these 10 ideas you’ll be able to take full advantage of those long summer days wherever you are, in fact, you’ll be dreaming of more to come!
1. Learn To Cook
Why not learn to cook this summer, take some days to practice and experiment; just have fun with new recipes and try out your cooking skills. Whether, you are beginning with new smoothies, with wacky ingredients and combinations, or you are making delicious desserts, this is something you can do over time, not just on one day; therefore, you have the opportunity to learn how to cook whatever you want.
2. Relax Indoors
If you’ve had enough of the scorching sun for one day why not find a cool room indoors, or create your own blanket fort made from light sheets in order to give you refuge from the beaming sunlight. Take a fan, grab a book or your iPod and just sit back and relax, and just let the world move around you.
3. Camp Out
Why don’t you gather up a few friends and set up a tent and camp out in the garden? Just make sure you have all the necessary equipment to make this experience the best it can be. You can even have your own campfire. Once the sun sets, you can all sit round the fire, roast some marshmallows and savour the moment.
4. Enjoy Water
If you can feel yourself burning up in the summer sun then, there’s only one way for you to cool down. Get yourself an outdoor pool or your very own Slip and Slide, fire up the hose and act like you’re 10 again, you won’t regret it.
5. Chill Out and Read Some Books
Books can help to transport you into your own world, letting you live through the eyes of others, even take you back to a period of history, allowing you to experience it for yourself. Why don’t you sit back on a nice summer’s day and just chill out with a book, learn all you can and enjoy what you read.
6. Do Some Gardening
If you’re looking for something you can get stuck into this summer, then why not grow your very own small garden; you can grow small plants, flowers, even your own fruit and vegetables, such as strawberries and tomatoes. This offers you something you can work on across the whole summer, instead of just the odd day.
7. Have a BBQ
It’s always enjoyable to have a barbecue, so this summer why not invite round some friends and family and fire up the Barbie! You can enjoy a nice summer’s day by cooking up your food and eating outside. After you’ve finished, have a campfire, talk and just chill out. Remember how fun it is to sit around a campfire telling stories. Fulfil this motion in your own back garden. Enjoy the night sky, enjoy each other and relish the company!
8. Clear Out Your Wardrobe
Got a lot of clothes you just don’t wear anymore? Why don’t you take this opportunity to have a good clear out, sort through your clothes and pick out the things you don’t want or don’t fit you anymore and drop them off at your local charity shop. Even sell them to help raise extra spending money for you.
9. Redecorate Your Room
This may not be everyone's favourite activity but it is something you can really benefit from if you’re struggling to think of something to do this summer. Even if you just sort through the odd clutter you have lying around your room, or if you go full out and redecorate your room with posters and pictures, even repaint the walls.
10. Make Your Own Film
Why not get some friends over, or even produce it by yourself. Brainstorm some ideas and develop your own film, from a sports show, music video or even your own short movie. If you are able to get into this project it can provide you with an unlimited amount of fun and adventure within your own home, from producing storyboards, to filming and costumes, to editing the final cut and other features.
This summer, you don’t need to travel a million miles from home to have a good time, there are endless possibilities of things you can do this summer to prevent boredom and our list is just the beginning. Can you think of any better activities? Leave yours in the comments below.
